Up Till Now – Autobiography
By William Shatner (with David Fisher)
Reviewed by Shirley Jarvis

A fascinating and intimate look at William Shatner’s personal and professional life. As he freely admits, he does have quite a n ego, as do most actors. Shatners says he likes to take risks professionally and some of them questionable. Tragedy has touched his life with the death of his third wife.
Looking back on his life, William Shatner says he has good and bad memories of Star Trek (TV and movies). Present day, his enjoyment of “Boston Legal” and his “Denny Crane” shines through. He has forged a good working and personal relationship with many of his co-workers including James Spader and Candice Bergen.
This book is a “warts and all” look at Shatners’ life. As William Shatner is best known as “Captain Kirk”. I will end with part of an interview, he did with Nichelle Nichols, when writing “Star Trek Memories”. Shatner was concluding the interview when Nichelle Nichols said “I’m not finished yet! I have to tell you why I despise you.” ie complete self absorption, responsible for his fellow actors losing screen time.
In his defence William Shatner has sais that he never intentionally tried to hurt another actor. Perhaps I was ignorant but I was never mean.
